Originally released exclusively in Japan by Arepaz/RL66 Records, Leb Laze conceived Rasheed's Dream during his permanent relocation from Atlanta to New York. Though the album is firmly rooted in Atlanta (Southern culture/Southern music/Southern pace/working alongside notable Dirty South producers), Rasheed’s Dream encapsulates a geographic shift from one city to another, from the South to the North.

The move was precipitous, coming at a time when Brooklyn was just coming into its own as “capital” of indie rock. The change introduced Leb Laze’s Southerness to a more expansive audience and vice versa. Synergy; Leb Laze moved in with 2 friends and/or members of Grizzly Bear, which in turn influenced the completion of the album and Leb Laze’s music-making ideas at large. The small loft they all shared became legendary for its raw musical creative energy.

Friendship turned into influence which turned into collaboration. While exploring fresh ideas and collaborating with a number of New York based musicians, Leb Laze took a trip back back down home -- South -- to record a few friends for the Rasheed’s Dream. The circuit was complete, Atlanta to New York City and back again; the United States united in album form.

All of the remixes that are included on this record are either from Atlanta or Atlanta expats living in New York City.
